Dual-Fuel Heat Pump
Installation & FortisBC Rebate Assistance
The switch to a dual-fuel heat pump means lower energy bills, less noise in the house, and cashback in return. Acetech Plumbing & Heating, a FortisBC Trade Ally, is there to make your upgrade hassle-free and make sure that you get every dollar that you are entitled to while enjoying the comfort throughout the year.
What Is a Dual-Fuel System?
A dual-fuel system mingles two heating methods in one: an electric air-source heat pump and a high-efficiency gas furnace. The heat pump works in cooling-heating and runs smoothly during the warmer months and mild winter days while being energy cost-effective. When the temperature falls below freezing and the heat pump’s performance diminishes, the system automatically shifts over to the gas furnace for strong, dependable heat.
This wise arrangement offers you the best of both worlds: the majority of the year energy savings and always-on, reliable heat just when you need it, all controlled by a thermostat that knows just when to transfer between systems.
You get:
- Up to 300 % efficiency in heat-pump mode
- Seamless switchover controlled by smart thermostat
- Proven reliability in Metro Vancouver’s damp, cool climate
How Much Can You Save?
FortisBC gives a whopping $5,000 for a dual-fuel installation that is eligible. (Ask us for details if you want to know about the installations that have been completed before May 1, 2025, still qualifying for the previous $10,000 level.) In addition, homeowners above 100 Mile House who qualify can receive a $3,000 provincial top-up, while the income-qualified households can even get $15,000 or more.
Are You Eligible?
To get the rebate, you have to:
- Be a FortisBC customer using natural gas with a primary gas furnace that is at least 10 years old.
- Install a cold-climate air-source heat pump that meets the qualifications along with a gas furnace that is compatible.
- Get a BC Hydro or an approved electrical contractor to do the panel upgrading (if it is necessary).
- Send in the rebate claim within six months after the installation.
The team at Acetech does all the documentation, uploads the images and invoices, and keeps an eye on the rebate until your check is delivered.
